These Terms and Conditions govern the purchase of tickets and attendance at the Mayo Dark Sky Festival, organized by the Friends of Mayo Dark Skies (trading as Mayo Dark Skies) (the “Festival Organisers”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By purchasing a ticket or attending any festival event, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1. Ticket Purchase & Contract Formation
1.1 A binding contract is formed when payment for your booking has been successfully processed and confirmed.
1.2 All prices are stated in Euros (€) and include VAT.
1.3 All advertised prices include any applicable booking or administration fees.
1.4 There are no general age restrictions. Children under 16 may attend most events free of charge and without a ticket. However:
- Certain events (such as workshops with limited capacity) require pre-booking for all attendees, including children, for safety and capacity reasons.
- Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times unless otherwise specified.
2. Refund & Cancellation Policy
2.1 Tickets may be refunded in full up to 7 days prior to the start of the relevant event, without requirement to provide a reason.
2.2 After this period, refund requests will be considered at the discretion of the Festival Organisers.
2.3 Refund requests must be submitted by email to: festival@mayodarkskies.ie
2.4 In the event of cancellation of the entire festival, full refunds will be issued automatically.
2.5 In the event of cancellation of an individual event, ticket holders may request a refund by contacting festival@mayodarkskies.ie.
3. Event Changes & Cancellation
3.1 The Festival Organisers reserve the right to make changes to event details, including but not limited to speakers, schedules, and venues.
3.2 Where reasonably possible, ticket holders will be notified of any changes via email and/or updates on the festival website.
3.3 If an individual event is cancelled or rescheduled, ticket holders will be informed and may request a refund in accordance with Section 2.
4. Entry Conditions
4.1 A valid ticket is required for entry to ticketed events.
4.2 Tickets may be purchased in advance via our website or, subject to availability, at event venues.
4.3 Tickets must be presented at entry, including the QR code provided at the time of purchase.
4.4 The Festival Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or remove attendees in cases of intoxication, disorderly behaviour, or misconduct. No refund will be issued in such circumstances.
5. Liability Disclaimer
5.1 Attendance at festival events is at your own risk.
5.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Festival Organisers shall not be liable for any loss, injury, damage, or theft suffered by attendees.
5.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
5.4 The Festival Organisers shall not be held responsible for delays, changes, or cancellations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to weather conditions, public health issues, strikes, or other force majeure events.
6. Intellectual Property & Media Consent
6.1 The Festival Organisers may photograph or record festival events.
6.2 Adult attendees consent to the use of their image in festival-related promotional materials, including publication on the festival website.
6.3 Children may only be photographed or recorded with the express consent of a parent or legal guardian.
6.4 All content on the festival website and associated materials remains the intellectual property of the Festival Organisers unless otherwise stated.
7. Privacy & Data Protection
7.1 We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR.
7.2 Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on how your personal data is collected, used, and stored.
8. Payment Terms
8.1 Tickets may be purchased online using major credit or debit cards.
8.2 Where capacity allows, tickets may also be purchased at event venues using card or cash.
8.3 All tickets issued will include a QR code, which must be presented for entry.
9. Accessibility & Special Requirements
9.1 Information on accessibility arrangements is available in our Welcome Accessibility Guide.
9.2 For events involving catering (such as the Gala Dinner), attendees must notify the Festival Organisers of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
10. Governing Law
10.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland.
10.2 Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

12. Amendments to Terms
12.1 We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time where necessary to reflect changes in our services, applicable laws, or operational requirements.
12.2 Where material changes are made that may affect your rights or obligations, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example via our website or by email where appropriate.
12.3 Updated Terms will apply to all ticket purchases made after the date of publication. Changes will not affect confirmed bookings made prior to that date, unless required by law.
12.4 The date of the most recent update will always be displayed at the top of this document.
